I LOVE the whole shabby chic look. After years of cherry wood and more Victorian styles, I discovered that what I really love is more of a country cottage look – which can be more accurately described as Shabby Chic. I love it! A couple years ago I bought new living room furniture in white/off-white cottage style, with sage green gingham checked sofa and chair with rose print throw pillows. Very shabby chic!
Now I’m going to attack my bedroom. I have cherry wood furniture, which is in good shape, and I don’t see me getting the new white set I’d love to have anytime soon – so I’ll have to make due; but my solid mauve bedspread with ivory lace skirting is going to go. I’ve had this spread for many years, and it was pretty expensive and still is nice shape, but I’m ready for a change. So I’ve bought these fabrics to make a rag quilt from:
I love these colors, as they fit in with the color scheme I already have, so I don’t have to change everything in the room, just the bedding. I’ve never made a quilt of any type – but a rag quilt seems especially easy – so I’ll begin on this over the next few days, first cutting out all the squares. I have no idea how long it will take me – hopefully I can get it done before fall!
