Pure Fashion in the “Modesty Movement”

High style and fashionable clothing are not usually thought of together when it comes to modesty.  However, I have been blogging about modesty for several years and more recently about Modern Modesty and how it’s possible to wear cute, fashionable clothing and still be modest.

Well apparently there is now a “modesty movement” and a church in Scaramento, California has put on a “Pure Fashion” fashion show and prom to help promote modesty in teens.   This clever and unique way of spreading the message about modesty had a waiting list of more than 100 people who were not able to attend, because all seats had been filled.

While I smiled at the term “modesty movement”, when God has called us to be modest from the beginning; I’m happy to see anything that ‘moves’ us back to following God’s word and living it out in our daily lives.

Chic Modest Dresses

If you’ve visited The Cottage before, you know I believe in modest dressing. One thing I don’t care for is the gunny sack look. I mean honestly, we can be modest but not look like we’re wearing yesterday’s potato sack for a dress! What kind of witness is that?!! ;)

So I’ve set out to try and find some clothing resources that offer modest selections, but that have some style to them as well. If you look in my links area, you’ll see quite a few modest clothing links. Some offer plain style clothing, if that’s your preference (nothing wrong with that), along with some sewing patterns and a wide assortment of things. But I’ve also really tried to find things that offer more stylish clothing too. I found another such gem today: Modest-n-Chic they have some very nice modest dresses in four design styles and several fabrics to choose from.
