McCain and Palin vs. Obama and Biden: I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m watching a poorly scripted drama production of a very off-broadway show. Don’t get me wrong, the acting is good, often very good – like when tele-prompters break and the speech goes flawlessly on; but then, other times not. There is enough Hollywood clamor glamor that one would think this is a movie premiere, not a serious political election for the next President of the United States.

I have actually tried to avoid watching this drama unfold on television. I still can’t get away from it, with tweets coming in via Twitter on a daily basis. Being online, politics find me. I generally don’t care to discuss politics much. I can already tell you that in the line of work I’m in, it’s pretty much a liberal bunch. Very liberal. To say that I am not, would be an understatement of epic proportions. I could say liberals are loud, and that’s why you always hear what they have to say, and us conservatives are a meek and mild, soft-spoken bunch and that’s why our side isn’t heard; but if you’ve ever met me, you’d quickly see that theory doesn’t hold water.

The truth is I hate debate. I have already researched all sides, and came to my decision and where I stand politically long ago. I’m intelligent and yes, educated, and gasp! – religious too. The online forums that I have found where political talk is mentioned, quickly falls into nothing productive, usually with name-calling and insults. Gee, how wonderfully ‘adult’ of them. No thank you. I don’t care to go there. I would imagine others of the conservative political persuasion feel the same, thus why our ‘voice’ appears silent; but rest assured, our vote is not.

So what is a political conservative? Let me make something clear right up front, I am not a Republican. Does that surprise you? It should, because most people assume that all conservatives are Republican and all liberals are Democrats. While I am not an official ‘card carrying’ member of any political party, I tend to vote for Constitution Party candidates overall. However, I will vote for whatever candidate in an individual election that I feel best represents me and my belief system and would do the best job, regardless of their political party.

Perfect Politicians There is no such thing, because we’re dealing with people. People are not perfect. Jesus was the only perfect person to walk this planet. The best the rest of us can do is to try and do as He did. Most politicians are not even trying. With their sex, drugs and all that mess – some politicians can give Hollywood a run for their money, or at least give them another plot line.

Give Me Politics! If the politicians would stop with the bull, quit horsing around, cut the drama and actually start running this country and doing the jobs they were voted into office to do, then I might take notice. But at every turn, it’s all about games, favors and ‘who’ you know. It’s not about the American people. What we want, what we need and the condition of the working people who are losing their homes, their jobs and everything they’ve worked their whole lives for and how so many are suffering. It’s not even about big business: it’s about political games. I seriously doubt Abraham Lincoln put up with this crap! “Honest Abe” earned that name and it was his reputation. How many politicians can claim that today and say so with a straight face and a clear conscience?

Stop Pointing Fingers and DO SOMETHING Honestly, I feel like I’m watching elementary school recess with all the blaming going on in this election; it’s all President Bush’s fault, or it’s Osama Bin Laden’s fault or whatever. The fact of the matter is: the state of this country has been coming for a long time, because the government has been corrupt and in a downward spiral for a long time. There is one thing that I can absolutely agree with both McCain and Obama: we definitely need change.

Quite honestly – I do not feel that either one of them is change enough for me. They are both playing the political machine like every other politician that has come down the pike for years and years before them. I think this country needs change, but I don’t think it’s truly ready for, nor really wants change. We’ve gotten lazy in our lifestyle and blinded to what’s going on in this country. Any other time of year, when you have liberals yelling louder for the rights of animals than the rights of unborn human beings: there is a problem.

Don’t get me wrong, I love animals, I own six dogs myself, have worked with dog rescue and am all for that; but when rubber meets the road, and when it’s time for my vote to count – I will vote for human life first, if I have to choose. I also will vote to block breed specific banning. It is not right to ban entire breeds of dogs, or to ban dog breeding altogether and force people to spay and neuter their animals. Again, these are things that big governments do – reminds me of Communist China and their one child only law. No thank you!

I live in the land of the FREE. That freedom was bought and paid for with the blood of soldiers and others who gave their life to defend my rights, and your rights, that today we are just giving away because some large corporations, and grass-roots activists, are spending billions in advertising trying to sell us on their propaganda. Whether it’s animal rights, gun laws, education, oil drilling, down to the crops we grow: I will stand my ground and fight to maintain my rights and freedoms, and at this point – fight to get back my rights and freedoms.

We do not need more laws: we need common sense. If you do not want to own a pit bull, then don’t own a pit bull! But do not pass a law saying I can not! By the same token, if you do own a pit bull, then you had best make sure that you train your dog so it is not a danger to anyone else. That’s common sense. That’s the whole ‘love your neighbor as yourself’ that Jesus was talking about. If everyone would treat each other with respect, the world would be a better place.

As the Toby Keith song Love Me If You Can, says, “You may not like where I’m going, but you know where I stand. Hate me if you want to, but love me if you can.” I stand for conservative politics with full details on those beliefs outlined on the Constitution Party web site and the government upholding those rights. Being a conservative in a vastly liberal world is not easy.

I try to do as Jesus did and love everyone, and I hope that I am doing that. I don’t want to fight, argue and beat someone over the head with my Bible to try and win one for my side. Fighting isn’t the answer. Name calling isn’t either. Perhaps I’m a bit Pollyanna in my political dreams. Abe Lincoln is dead and so apparently are truly honest politics. A girl can dream. I will never give up and my vote will continue to reflect my beliefs. No vote is wasted and every one does count.

So until I [exit stage RIGHT] I will continue to love everyone as Jesus told me to, and I will continue to pray that the LEFT and RIGHT can meet in the MIDDLE and at least have an adult conversation without the drama, before the final curtain.
