Homeschool Planning for Fall 2009

We finished up our 12th year of homeschooling without much fanfare. All went well, and although while we liked our year of using the Prairie Primer Unit Study, we will not be using that again next year. Mark and I have discussed curriculum choices at length and prayed about this for many months, taking into account many things (daily schedules, other commitments, finances, children’s learning styles, etc..) and while the lure of convenience of the Abeka DVD program would suit us just fine, we have learned that sitting at a computer all day is not the best for our children.

So, we will be using the long trusted Alpha Omega Lifepacs. We used these for many years with Heather and they worked just fine, and we need to use something familiar. For this season in our life, this is a good choice for us.

What curriculum is your homeschooling family using this fall? I’d love to know – post your comment below.

So glad to hear that an experienced homeschooler, like yourself approves of the Lifepac curriculum. We’re using it this year as well & have found it to be pretty comprehensive for our two children. We’ll be starting 6th & 3rd on Aug. 10th – will be here soon, I’d better get busy.
      Have a great Sunday afternoon.

    2. This is our 17th year. You can read about our choices this year here:
      School This Year

      Have a great year!

    3. Hey Traci,
      We’ve used AOLifepacs before too.
      I feel they’re economically awesome!
This year we’re using ACE School of Tomorrow Paces. I got the entire jr high and high school for free from Freecycle.
I too would love to use the A Beka DVD school or even BJU. But it is not budget friendly at all.
What grades will you have this year? I have 9th grade (Destiny) and PreK 3 – Nathan! Oh, I’m going to be using Hooked on Phonics for him.

    4. We are using Rod & Staff for all but math. Math will be CLE. We’ll have 8th, 6th, 2nd and Preschool.

Hi ladies – thanks for all your comments. It’s so interesting to see all the different things we use to homeschool. It’s good to have curriculum choices!

I say – use what works for you. :)
