I have seen a lot of weird things in my life from bizarre to sinful and most things in between. But today I learn that if you happened to have ‘hooked up’ (aka: slept with) someone and you could have exposed that person to a sexually transmitted disease, you can just send the person an e-card to let them know! ![]()
Yeah, that’s what I said. Ok, first of all – as a Christian woman, I believe that waiting for marriage before one engages in sexual activity of any type is the best course of action to take (God thinks so too): also safer with no chance of catching anything. This goes both ways for the man and the woman: both wait = safe sex with no risk of disease. Makes perfect sense (not to mention it will virtually eliminate the teen pregnancy and unwed mother issue).
To choose to have sex with someone, and to not even ask what their sexual history is, like do they have any sexually transmitted diseases (STD), is irresponsible, and illegal too, if you knowingly have HIV and do not disclose that to your intended partner.
But to go forth and have sex with someone you obviously barely know, then to send them an e-mail notification that you may have infected them with an STD, is about the most irresponsible, cold and insane idea ever thought of. Seriously – who in the world thought this was a brilliant plan?! Well apparently it was the ‘brain child’ (more focused on child than brain) of Internet Sexuality Information Services, a non-profit agency located in California.
What in the world has become of our society where we have come down to this. I am shocked, sickened and concerned for all those who see this e-card idea as a good thing. We need to be promoting abstinence, not e-card notifications! This idea just adds fuel to the fire of irresponsible sexual activity and behavior.
If you’re going to be irresponsible enough to have casual sex with someone, and could have infected them with a STD, buck up and do the right thing and tell them in person. If you can’t do that, then God help you.

You go, girl. It is distressing what people find “appropriate” these days.
Have a great day.
