Yes, a whole week!!
My anniversary is Thursday (Valentine’s Day), also known around here as the “Vale-versary”.
However, it’s one busy week – with Mark’s crazy work schedule this month, me watching Lilly overnight Thursday through Saturday while Heather and Matthew go on a marriage retreat; let’s just say, there’s little time for Mark and I. So, we’re going to try and go out to lunch tomorrow (Tuesday) as soon as Mark gets off work. He’s working 3rd shift right now and gets off at 10:30 am and by the time he arrives back in our neck of the woods it’s between 11:30 – 12 noon. So perfect timing for a lunch
However, we’re getting winter weather today; let’s pray it’s not enough to keep kids home from school tomorrow and foil our Valentine’s celebration plans.
I plan to get the kids a little something for Valentine’s Day. We don’t normally do this (well, my mother does), but I think it appropriate and fitting to let the children know they are loved too with a small stuffed animal or something on this day.
Then I can’t forget the dogs!! But I have special treats already bought for them.
What do you do for Valentine’s Day? Do you celebrate in a special way with your hubby? Does your hubby do the traditional cards and flowers or jewelery, dinner and a movie? Or something more unique? What do you get him?
Taxes, a Date & Snow
Today I finally managed to get my tax numbers and things together so Mark can start our taxes. He has done our taxes himself our whole marriage. I think one year we paid someone and quickly determined it was not worth the money and Mark has done it every year since. With the invention of TurboTax software and now e-filing, it couldn’t be easier, and this is with me having three businesses to file on this year, plus Mark’s income. With Mark’s work schedule, it may take him a week to get everything entered, but it doesn’t take long to get our refund – thanks to e-filing.
Tomorrow we are finally getting to have our vale-versary luncheon date. Our original plan was to go out to Applebee’s or something and have lunch. However, it will be around lunch time when Mark gets home from work, and that’s the most crowded time to go (not quiet and romantic at all), and since he will need to get to bed, I think I’m going to get Carside-to-Go from Applebee’s and we’ll eat it at home where it’s quiet.
The kids will be at school and I can have the food already here so he can get to bed at a decent hour to get some sleep before heading back to work tomorrow evening.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “If you don’t like the weather, stick around for 5 minutes and it’ll change.” Well, today in St. Louis, this was absolutely true, only it was more like wait 2 minutes. It went from clear, even sunny, to white-out conditions in minutes.

And joy of joys, more snow due Thursday.
