While his performance did not garner him a golden ticket to Hollywood, he certainly made an excellent point.

Common sense isn’t so common, and apparently less so when discussing issues of modesty. This trend toward immodest clothing has been slowly working it’s way into our society for that past 50 years, at least.

I have nothing against fashion and style; but when fashion and style mean showing all that the good Lord gave ya – it’s time to say no.

Today a tweet came through my Twitter account with a link to view a modest dress, the site itself also discussed modesty. Refreshing to know I’m not the only one who believes in the virtue of dressing modestly. (check out http://www.colleenhammond.com ) When I visited Colleen’s Facebook page, I found the above modesty sign.

In reading her Facebook thread on this sign, it appears the sign itself is located outside the entrance to a CHURCH!

The fact that such a sign would need to be posted outside of a church is a great indication of how far away from common sense modesty our society has come – even for those within the church.

Definitions of modesty have so greatly changed, that I guess a sign (with pictures) is absolutely needed.

I want one of these signs! If I can obtain the info on how to get one, I’ll post it here for you.

In the meantime….

Here’s Colleen’s great list of modest clothing resources. My own list of modesty clothing resources is found to the right, in the sidebar.

What is your definition of modesty?

Protecting your skin from sun damaging is certainly important, but today I want to talk about another aspect of HydroChic – their looks.

If you watched the episode of 19 and Counting Duggar family episodes, when Joshua and Anna went on their honeymoon, and Anna wore modest swimwear that drew a lot of comments on blogs across the internet, then you have seen what a modest swimsuit looks like. While I’m not for sure if it was from the HydroChic line – it sure looked like one of theirs!

Whether you define modesty as ‘dresses only’, or just prefer to be covered in a longer bike shorts style, HydroChic has you covered – literally. Their swimwear fashions are top-notch and all with the UV protection I blogged about last year.

HydroChic swimwear looks like any other athletic wear. Sure, the modest skirt styles are unique, but still attractive and not ugly at all. They’ve done a very fine job, in my opinion, in combining function and fashion in their product line – without crossing the line and compromising modesty to do so.

I respect that, but more importantly, I would wear that! Seriously, I’ve seen some modest swimwear that, well… while certainly modest, would draw so much attention to myself that I felt would defeat the purpose of modesty in the first place. I believe HydroChic has accomplished something other modest swimwear companies have not – a true merging of function, fashion and modesty.

Check out HydroChic for yourself to see all their swimwear styles – they’ve just launched a new look for their web site. Nice!
