In May of 2008 I blogged about HydroChic Modest Swimwear for women and I mentioned they were stylish, but really mainly discussed the UV protection qualities. Protecting your skin from sun damaging is certainly important, but today I want to talk about another aspect of HydroChic – their looks.

If you watched one of the recent 18 and Counting Duggar family episodes, when Joshua and Anna went on their honeymoon, and Anna wore modest swimwear that drew a lot of comments on blogs across the internet, then you have seen what a modest swimsuit looks like. While I’m not for sure if it was from the HydroChic line – it sure looked like one of theirs!

Whether you define modesty as ‘dresses only’, or just prefer to be covered in a longer bike shorts style, HydroChic has you covered – literally. Their swimwear fashions are top-notch and all with the UV protection I blogged about last year.

HydroChic swimwear looks like any other athletic wear. Sure, the modest skirt styles are unique, but still attractive and not ugly at all. They’ve done a very fine job, in my opinion, in combining function and fashion in their product line – without crossing the line and compromising modesty to do so.

I respect that, but more importantly, I would wear that! Seriously, I’ve seen some modest swimwear that, well… while certainly modest, would draw so much attention to myself that I felt would defeat the purpose of modesty in the first place. I believe HydroChic has accomplished something other modest swimwear companies have not – a true merging of function, fashion and modesty.

Check out HydroChic for yourself to see all their swimwear styles – they’re even having a big sale right now! ;)

I have never heard of them before now. I really like what I saw at their website! I have a modest suit from Land’s End and I paid a premium for it (though I love it). I see options here at lower prices. I’ll definitely keep them in mind for future purchases for me and my girls. Thanks, Traci!

I really like their suits too Wardeh. Honestly, they look sporty to me, not goofy at all. I want to be modest, not to stand out looking odd drawing more attention to myself. KWIM? I believe HydroChic swimwear accomplishes this quite well.

Their end of season sale looks to be pretty good! ;)

I liked the site too..almost ended up buying something off an Islamic website which was a little more than what I was looking for..like u said..u don’t want to stand out even more. They were very $$$..I don’t have a choice as we are headed to Dollywood in 2 weeks. I haven’t wore a bathing suit since I was in my 20′s..LOL

I wasn’t sure from your comment – did you buy a suit from HydroChic? These suits are modest, yet honestly – don’t look odd. They look sporty really. :)

Loved the website for HydroChic. I’ve been looking for this for years. My problem is not primarily modesty. If I had great legs and arms I would pick a concervative suit from Land’s End or Eddie Bauer. But as it is, I need to cover up legs down to the knees and arms down to the elbows. Don’t want to be accused of sight pollution. Sun protection is a concern also. Years of mega sun exposure has made me a prime candidate for skin cancer. I watch out now. As a baby boomer who would still like to enjoy the beach and water, I have been unable to find any suit that answered all my needs. Now I have it with HydroChic. Great coverage. Great style. No freakish, ridiculous looking garb. THANKS!!!

I love the line of swim wear and thanks for sharing it with us all.I love to swim but hate to worry about my suit.Great alternative.

Excellent concise post. I love tankinis and one-pieces. I usually do all my swimwear shopping online now because trying them on in stores is too embarrassing lol. Plus I can do it in my pajamas and have everything delivered to my front door. I used to use boyshorts and such to hide my curves but they’ve really come a long way with plus size swimwear in the last 10 or so years. I like to stay pretty conservative since I’m getting a little old but some companies seem to think that plus size swimwear should only be available for older women for some reason. You rarely see plus sizes with styles for young women. Anyway, thanks for the informative post.
