I am staunchly conservative. I would say probably more so than Ann Coulter. I respect her right to free speech. On one hand I applaud her for standing up for the right; but honestly – sometimes I think she’s like a bull in a china shop!
If you watch the video below, it shows Ann’s visit to the television talk show The View. It’s a controversial show, one I’ve only watched myself a handful of times. I watched this clip of Ann’s appearance on the show yesterday and honestly, was expecting more. Hoping for more. I know she can be outspoken. However where her and I part ways is her approach to getting the ‘right’ message out to the world and disagreeing with liberal policies and politics. The way to coming to any sort of agreement, discussion, or the ever hopeful “win one for our side”, is not to engage them in verbal attacks. Can we not rise above all that?
On shows such as this, a guest is only given a few short minutes to speak. Her book, I’m sure (I’ve not read it) has good points to make and information in it that she wanted to discuss. She should have tried to convey her Republican views and those points within the book. Instead, she spent too much time accusing them of attacking her, when she could have done the bigger and better thing and just talked about her book and stuck to the topic at hand. She looked like a fool and certainly didn’t help the conservative movement at all. Is it all a farce to sell books and promote Ann Coulter more so than to help the Republican party? Probably.
Now perhaps this is her brand, if you will. To be loud, brash and bold. It’s who she is – and the image she is trying to portray: that is Ann Coulter. Fine, but I will now cringe every time I hear or see her because I believe she could do so much good for the Republican party if she would be a lot less ‘drama queen’ and a lot more, well… conservative.
Watch it and share your thoughts below. Do you agree with Ann’s style? Is she helping or hurting the Republican party? Have you read her book – what are your thoughts on her book? I couldn’t really get any details from it after watching the video – so I’d like to know. ![]()

I think she is out for herself. Nothing personal against Ann, I am glad she is out there stirring up the pot. With that said she is the right version of Michael Moore. She goes out, tosses a bunch of stuff against the fan, makes a bunch of money and dissapears. She knows how to sell a book and start controversy but I don’t believe she has ever put forward a vision of the world that has assisted in moving Conservatives or the nation forward.
I also don’t know how much of what she spouts she truly believes in. She seems more of a caricature, a media savvy performer than a conservative leader.
I felt like it started out with her being “attacked” on the facts she wrote in her book. Then near the last 1/4 of the tape she asked them if she could respond to their “attack” before she came out when they were talking about her book earlier, which is not on this tape. Either way, she really grates on my nerves, whether I agree with her or not. Sorta like Nancy Grace. My dh refuses to listen to that woman.
