For the past two weeks or more, my internet connection has been very ‘iffy’.  By noon each day, the connection starts getting extremely slow - so much so, I really can’t get to web sites and barely get my mail downloaded - and about and hour or two later I lose the connection completely.   It then stays down until sometime in the middle of the night, and by early the next morning (like now), I have internet again.   So extremely frustrating, I can’t even begin to tell you!  I have WORK to do, and I can’t get online.

I’ve called tech support two or three times, done all they told me to do, but nothing has worked.  So far, they haven’t sent anyone out here to see what the problem is, because it does come back up.  Mark has a theory that it’s due to the hot weather and possibly some box thingy they have in our attic to boost the signal.  Because it seems to go down in the heat of the day; Mark’s theory seems very logical.

So of course, yesterday was no different, I lose internet.  It was a Sunday, but I’d had enough.  I called tech support - again, and told them what was up and how long it’s been going on.  They said they would have an administrator look into this and call me back when they were ready to ‘check the line’.   It’s now early Monday morning, no call on the repair status.  True to it’s pattern, my internet is working - for now.   I guess I need to work quickly to get anything done work-wise.

The other bad thing when my internet goes down, is that I lose my house phone service too; because we have Vonage.  I really like Vonage, and other than the past couple of weeks, have not had issues with my internet going down like this.  Thankfully, I do have my Vonage setup so that if my internet is down (electric is out, etc….) all calls coming in to my home phone are forwarded to my cell phone.  So at least I won’t miss any calls.   But it does add a layer of frustration to this whole mess.

So we shall see what the repair crew has to say about this issue.  I want someone to physically come out here and fix this problem.  Pray that is sooner than later.

Also, our central a/c is all but gone.  We have an estimate to replace the furnace (which completely stopped working in March) and also the a/c system, but the a/c - while not working well - was still working.  Not anymore.   We had not called to schedule them to repair this, because #1, it’s $5,000  , and #2, the a/c was working, so we were going to wait until closer to fall and have everything replaced.  Well, now we can’t wait.  I’ m calling today to have them put us on the schedule to get this fixed.  We have been saving just for this, and have almost all the money (yep, we’re paying cash and are committed to incurring no debt to get this done) and when he gave us the estimate, said it could be 2-3 weeks, because this is their busy season.  I’m praying it’s sooner than later.  Have I mentioned I’m a wimp when it comes to heat.  I get migraines, and physically sick, when I get too hot.  I’ve had a migraine the past two days and woke up with one starting again this morning.  My dogs were panting, and that was inside the house!  So I’ve put them temporarily down in the dog room in the basement, where they have their dog door and fenced potty area, etc….   While I don’t like that they are down there all day/night, it’s better for them right now, because of the heat.  It’s much cooler down there.  It’s a nice room - so maybe they can view it like a vacation!  Here’s our dog room:

Okay, so I guess I better get some work done, while I still have internet connection.

Hey Traci,
I sure hope its not as long as you anticipate until the AC is fixed! That is the PITS!
I had wireless for about a month…. I was piggybacking off my neighbor, who was kind enough to allow it. But then we had a thunderstorm…. and the power flicked and suddenly - no wireless. WAHHHH! I got used to it and now I am back on dial up! LOL!

Love you
Sylvia
