Vacation 2008 Day 4: Meramec Caverns
Yes, I’m on day four, as days two and three were spent at home not doing anything overly noteworthy. ![]()
Today was day four of our family vacation and we took the children to Meramec Caverns, which is about 10 minutes from our house here in Sullivan. Our intention was to do their ‘Dino Dig’ and the riverboat tour. Well, the Dino Dig wasn’t open - so that was out. Hannah was in ‘fine form’ (as you will see in one particular photo below), so we knew that the 1 hour 20 minute walking cave tour was not going to be an option; so we learned some about caves and caverns and some history about Stanton and Sullivan (where we live) and went on the riverboat tour.
So we started out by reading and learning some local history and about caves and caverns.
(Yes, Hannah had some attitude today. *sigh*)
Then is was off to the riverboat tour. We learned a lot and saw a beaver, baby ducks, a Blue Heron and lots of turtles. Unfortunately, my camera isn’t the best and I did not get photos of all of it. Here’s what I did get.
You might need to click to see the larger version of this photo to see the turtles lined up on the log
And then, a block or two from our house, on our very street, we saw the huge vulture in the road, that we then scared off onto the roof of this house, where we got this photo.
So to end Vacation 2008 Day Four, we will be having KFC for supper and relaxing. I think tomorrow we’re going to see Wall-e at the movies and that’s about it. We have more exciting adventures planned for Thursday or Friday. So stay tuned! ![]()
