Well, after more prayer and number crunching, the children will be going to private school after all. I must say I am very glad and much relieved. While I do believe homeschooling to be a good thing, it is not easy, nor something to be taken lightly. Mark is in full agreement and we’re both feeling a great peace about this decision and I’m going tomorrow morning to register the children for private school. This is the same school they’ve gone to the past two years, so nothing has changed for them. :)

I believe we have enough uniform shirts, and Sam can wear jeans and while the girls can wear regular skirts, they just need to be long enough – we usually have them wear uniform skirts. However, finding uniform skirts that are long enough isn’t always easy. We do have a few here that I believe still fit and are long enough and I found some Dickies brand that are ankle length long! Yippeeee!!! So after I do a full inventory of what we have that will work, I may order the girls some of those. Otherwise, I believe we’re pretty set for school clothes. I will need to buy shoes and I’ve decided to go into St Louis and buy them real leather shoes from Penney’s or someplace that sells good shoes, and not from Walmart or Payless. Fake leather shoes do not last at all! Yuck! So we will be going school shoes shopping the last week in August, as I’ve taken that week off from daycare; and aside from dentist and eye doctor appointments every day that week, we will have time to run to St Louis for shoe shopping. ;)

Then there’s school supplies. Thankfully our church had a Back to School Sundae this past Sunday and gave each child a bag of school supplies. That really helps!! I will get each child’s list of what they need tomorrow, so all I have to do is fill in with specific things. But we do have a good chunk of what they need already. They’ve used these same backpacks and lunch bags for two years in a row, and they’re looking pretty sad, so I guess new ones are in order. In another month or so, winter coats and such will also be needed. I may hit resale shops for those. ;)

So back to school we go. I love the little school the children go to. It may not be 100% perfect, but I can tell you our homeschool wouldn’t have been either, so I’m fine dealing with private school. :D

Traci I am so glad this worked out because I will have to admit, I was a tiny bit worried about you and how you would feel, physically, if you had the children at home for school. Anyway, I laid it in the Lord’s hands. I’m so glad He has worked this out for you!

:) I was a lot worried about me. And these past two weeks with Kathy gone made me realize that there’s no way I could homeschool and do the daycare. I am feeling better, but still…. like today, I’m trying to get a migraine. So I’m obviously still susceptible to health issues and I don’t want to get back down to where I was. The private school is wonderful and the children love it. I’m glad the Lord provided a way for us to do it. :)
