A Baby & A Wedding

Next week I’m giving my daughter Heather her baby shower! My granddaughter Lilly is due to arrive sometime around August 24th. However, my daughter Lyndsay is getting married July 20th and I’m giving that shower on July 1st. So in order to not get things too close to the wedding, too close to the due date, etc….. the baby shower is first and is this next weekend!! These girls are keeping their momma quite busy!

I did manage to get Lilly two burp towels made; one I gave to Heather on Mother’s Day, the other I will give with her shower gift and/or perhaps when Lilly actually arrives. I haven’t decided yet. I am hoping to make some more burp towels today. I embroider them with her name (I have a Bernina Artista 170e sewing machine with the embroidery module – so it makes embroidery quick, easy and oh so much fun!! :D ) and fancy them up with ribbons, flannel, etc…. I’ve got an idea that I thought of the other day for another variation on these burp rags that I plan to try today. ;) I’ve got pretty much everything else together for the baby shower; it’s at my mom’s house and she’s handling most of the details for cleaning and setting up, food, etc… However, I am making the cake with a lot of help from my friend Kathy. It’s going to be adorably cute and in the shape of a baby buggy!

Lyndsay has done very well handling all the wedding plans herself. I only had to get a few small things and I really believe she only had me do those to make me feel like I did something. ;) I have her bridal shower invitations here and I need to work on addressing those this week and getting those in the mail by the end of the week. I’m still trying to decide on a cake and/or a theme, games and whatnot for Lyndsay’s bridal shower. Baby showers seem to be easier than bridal showers on those things. Perhaps I’ll fore go all that, and just order a nice cake and have a nice time of visiting, food and fun without games and busyness. That seems to suit Lyndsay better anyway.

I have my dress for the wedding. It’s very lovely – a soft, sage-type green with large cabbage roses on it in peachy-pinks. Very pretty. Very me. Not the normal “martonly” mother-of-the-bride type dress. As for shoes, I think something in a very low heel in a taupe would work quite well. So I’ll be on the hunt for the perfect shoe. ;)

Back to baby things: I intend to go throughout the first week of July to help Heather get her nursery all organized and setup. Painting will also probably need to be done. Hopefully I’ll be having a few good days (health-wise) and will have energy enough to do all that needs doing to help her. I want this to be a special time for each of my girls and for me to be able to give them each equal amount of my time and for them to know how much I love them. My having the three little children, I believe, often takes away from the moments I’m able to spend or devote to these special events in the lives of my older children. I know they understand and I know they know I love them – I tell them I do! But there are times that my TIME is what they need from me, and time is something that I always seem to be lacking. So time is what I’m setting aside just for my older girls for their special days and events coming up.

I’ll post some baby shower pictures after the event next weekend. ;)
