Shabby Chic Rag Quilt
I LOVE the whole shabby chic look. After years of cherry wood and more Victorian styles, I discovered that what I really love is more of a country cottage look – which can be more accurately described as Shabby Chic. I love it! A couple years ago I bought new living room furniture in white/off-white cottage style, with sage green gingham checked sofa and chair with rose print throw pillows. Very shabby chic!
Now I’m going to attack my bedroom.
I have cherry wood furniture, which is in good shape, and I don’t see me getting the new white set I’d love to have anytime soon – so I’ll have to make due; but my solid mauve bedspread with ivory lace skirting is going to go. I’ve had this spread for many years, and it was pretty expensive and still is nice shape, but I’m ready for a change. So I’ve bought these fabrics to make a rag quilt from:

I love these colors, as they fit in with the color scheme I already have, so I don’t have to change everything in the room, just the bedding.
I’ve never made a quilt of any type – but a rag quilt seems especially easy – so I’ll begin on this over the next few days, first cutting out all the squares. I have no idea how long it will take me – hopefully I can get it done before fall!

Those colors really look nice! I can’t wait to see the finished product so you be sure to have it done next week, OK?
I never would have figured you for a Shabby Chic kind of gal, how about that?
Beautiful choices, Traci! Your quilt is going to be lovely! Are you going to use batting or flannel for the inside layer?
Thanks Wardeh! I bought cotton batting to use, but I’m not sure how that will fray and affect that overall “rag” look, so I may opt for some flannel. What ya think: flannel or batting?
I think flannel. I was thinking that the batting wouldn’t look too good hanging out there. I think the flannel will fray better, too.
OH how fun, Traci! I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
I think your quilt is going to be gorgeous! I’m really looking forward to seeing pics.
